The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy

Directed By: Luis Buñuel

Debut Year: 1972

Brief Synopsis: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie is Luis Buñuel’s deliciously satirical masterpiece. The film follows six chic, well-to-do but not entirely honest friends in search of a meal which they never, for one bizarre reason or another, get to eat. A partly surreal, partly satirical saga of repeatedly frustrated appetites (of various kinds), which simultaneously delights in the unexpected detours and cul de sacs of cinematic storytelling. The film was both a critical and commercial success. It won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and a BAFTA Awards for Best Original Screenplay.
