Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

About:

Three Women is a 2019 non-fiction book by Lisa Taddeo that covers the sexual and emotional lives of three women from different backgrounds and regions of the United States. The book’s three protagonists are Lina, a suburban Indiana mother; Maggie, a seventeen-year-old high school student in North Dakota; and Sloane, a successful restaurant owner in the Northeast whose husband likes to watch her have sex with other men and women. The book debuted at number one on The New York Times non-fiction best sellers list and it seemed like for the past 6 months, everyone was talking about this book and how it boldly portrayed female sexuality. This month, I finally made time and got around to reading it and I’m so glad I did. This book offers an in-depth examination of female sexual desire that is so often repressed in society today. It’s frank and direct style, which candidly, initially felt slight jarring to me, I grew to appreciate. I definitely think this book is worth a read, as it feels incredibly timely and relevant given today’s social and political landscape.
